Its that time of year again… the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, the happy hour patios are opening… AND in just a few short weeks, the 2007 DCene Beer Pong tournament will be underway. Aside from being a Washingtonian and an avid DCene event attendee, I am blogging because DCene is launching a clever flickr photo group where attendees can easy upload photos right there and then via their mobile phones.
"DCene is all about bringing folks together and creating a community. We wanted to give the beer pong players and fans a way to share their experiences with others right then and there. There's no better way to do this then through mobile since everyone will have a phone or a device on them at the event" –Adam Rosenberg, DCene President and Founder.
So while your team is sinking Ping-Pong ball after Ping-Pong ball in beer cups or your standing on the sidelines because your team is out after the first round, snap a photo and post it to flickr by texting it to type61find@photos.flickr.com.
Hey, it's DC, you never know if these pics will come in handy one day ;)

Check out the "Teams" Section for detailed information on all the teams in the tournament!
Thank you all for signing up. Our play-in games and our tournament teams are filled. If you'd like to get on the waiting list, email me. Otherwise, come down to the bar on June 9 for one helluva party!
So the 28 "auto" bids are just about locked up, but there are still 8 "play-in" slots available.
If you are a "play-in" team, it means you must participate in an 8 team playoff on Friday, June 8 for the remaining 4 slots in the tournament. 8 teams. 4 games. 4 winners.
If you lose, you still get to come to the bar and drink your face off for free during the tournament all day on Saturday.
Don't let this sway you from signing up. If a team does not turn in it's payment, they get tossed from the tournament and you could end up taking their place.
We will be having a kickoff party on Saturday, April 21 at Hamilton's Bar & Grill.
This will be a great opportunity for teams to see the venue, sign up for a tournament, and get a feel for the competition.
Hamilton's is located at 233 2nd Street, NW near the Union Station Metro Station.
The party will run from 8 PM - 11 PM. There will be drink specials and other fun surprises. If you want to sign up, bring your check for $90 made out to "DCENE". The tournament WILL sell out so I highly recommend you take the opportunity to sign up early at this party.
